FIFA 14 - TOTY Philipp Lahm Review

Welcome to my TOTY Lahm review! I have played 46 games with him, and honestly, that was a lot more than I had anticipated playing. Frankly, it was very hard to pay all the coins for him because it was very hard to justify paying that much for a fullback. Lahm is one of the most intense players that I have ever played with, he is just beyond amazing for me.

His pace is not a let down at all. Even with his NIF, I felt that he was much faster than his card showed. This is no exception. I never have an issue with him not being able to catch up to sweaty players bombing down the wings.

He is a fullback. I honestly not scored a goal with him just because I don't shoot with my fullbacks.... (unless they are in a clear scoring opportunity. Can't give him an honest rating here

Passing - 92

Now this is when the review starts to get good. 92 passing. Yes, his passing is that good. Long passing is amazing, and his 94 short passing is beyond amazing. He is the highest overall passer in the Bundesliga, and it definitely shows. His crossing is just...oh my. I can't even describe his crossing and lobbed passes. Those coupled with his curve make for some great crosses. Perfect to assist the target man inside the box.

Dribbling - 88

Very very good. Not Messi or anything, but he is no clunky center back either. Can dribble around defenders with ease.

Defending - 92

The highlight of Philipp Lahm. 69 Strength? Not really, feels like much much more. No, he probably won't be able to pull Hulk off the ball, but he is no weakling. 99 interceptions? The ball is yours. Carelessness from your opponents will be punished by Lahm. 94 Sliding Tackle. I really don't like to slide into my tackles, but with Lahm, I feel that he has a 90% success rate in getting the ball out of the slide tackles. 99 standing tackles. Once again, the ball is yours. I have never used a defender that I love using more than TOTY Lahm. Shame Alaba didn't make the TOTY. Would make the most epic fullback paring in the whole game.

Not bad, but he is only 1.70m/5'6'', so don't expect to win many headers.

Final Thoughts

So should you buy him? If you have the coins, with no doubt. No doubt. I think his price is fully justified, as he is one of the best defensive players that I have used in the game. If you have just enough for just him or maybe some other players to bolster your squad, then I would consider maybe doing that first (Maybe like IF Hummels if you want to increase your defensive power in a Bundesliga/German squad). But, I honestly think that TOTY Lahm is a fantastic addition to any squad.
